2022 National Health Service Corps Scholarship Opportunity
The National Health Service Corps (NHSC) has recently opened scholarship applications for the 2022-2023 school year. Eligible dental students are able to apply for the scholarship now through May 5, 2022, at 4:30 PM PST. NHSC scholarship funds can cover tuition, fees, and items such as books, health insurance, and equipment for up to four years. Scholarship funds can also cover monthly stipends to assist with living expenses while pursuing your dental degree.
Eligibility Requirements
To meet scholarship eligibility requirements, students must commit to providing one year of service in an underserved community at an NHSC-approved site each year the student receives scholarship support, with a two-year minimum and four-year maximum service commitment. NHC-approved sites are located within health professional shortage areas and are approved on an annual basis. Approved sites may include federally qualified health centers (FQHCs), FQHC look-alikes, rural health clinics, Indian Health Service sites, tribal clinics, Urban Health Service Corps sites, among other options. Additionally, scholarship applicants must be U.S. citizens or U.S. nationals attending a CODA-accredited program, and for the 2022-2023 school year awards will only be given to full-time students with classes that begin on or before Sept. 30, 2022.
