Application deadlines are approaching for two loan repayment opportunities: the State Health Program & the National Health Service Corps (NHSC).

State Health Program | Apply by March 31

The Health Professional Loan Repayment and Conditional Scholarship program, now known as the State Health Program, offers loan repayment assistance for primary care health care providers who agree to practice in a shortage area of Washington. The program provides up to $75,000 for a minimum of 3 years of service.

Created by the Legislature in 1991, the program has helped to reduce barriers to care by making it possible for over 1,000 health care professionals to provide care in rural and underserved areas, while receiving loan repayment assistance.

National Health Service Corps Loan Repayment Programs | Apply by April 23

Yet another great opportunity to serve underserved and rural populations, the National Health Service Corps (NHSC) has opened its application for the NHSC Loan Repayment Program. The program provides up to $50,000 for a minimum of 2 years of fulltime service and up to $25,000 for 2 years of part-time service.

Since its inception, more than 50,000 primary health care providers have served in the National Health Service Corps.
