Updated Proposed Rule Amendments for Delegation of Duties to Hygienists
DQAC is proposing rule amendments that update the listing of allowable duties a dentist may delegate to a licensed dental hygienist under general supervision.
The Dental Quality Assurance Commission (DQAC) is reviewing rule amendments to WAC 246-817-550- acts that may be performed by licensed dental hygienists under general supervision.
DQAC held a rule hearing on March 1, 2019 to consider adoption of the previously proposed rule. The commission elected not to adopt the proposed changes at that time. The Dental Collaboration Committee met with stakeholders to address concerns with the previously proposed rule on March 22, 2019.
The proposed rule amendments reflect the most recent changes and update the list of allowable duties a dentist may delegate to a licensed dental hygienist under general supervision. These changes remove several orthodontic procedures from consideration under the proposed rule.
DQAC will be reviewing the rule on April 19, 2019. To submit written comments, email Jennifer Santiago at jennifer.santiago@doh.wa.gov.
