HCA Releases Confidentiality Toolkit for Providers

​The Health Care Authority (HCA) has released the Washington State Confidentiality Toolkit for Providers, a resource for health care providers required to be compliant with HIPAA and other state laws.

The Health Care Authority (HCA) has released the Washington State Confidentiality Toolkit for Providers, a resource for health care providers required to be compliant with HIPAA and other state laws (RCW 70.02 in particular).

The toolkit includes:

  • Overview of HIPAA
  • Overview of state privacy laws, in particular RCW 70.02
  • Explanation of more protective state laws concerning mental health and sexually transmitted diseases
  • State breach notification laws
  • Chart summarizing Washington minor consent laws

Medicaid Transition to Managed Care Cancelled

The 2019 Legislature has directed the Washington State Health Care Authority (HCA) to continue to administer the dental Medicaid program through fee-for-service. The HCA may not proceed with a carved-out or carved-in managed care dental option at this time.
